,In 1970, Tom Via Trucking was established. Tom started with one cabover Mack truck, a lowboy and a grain trailer, which he used to haul grain to market for the local farmers. Soon after came a CAT endloader and a Case backhoe that he used for excavating. Through the years he has had as many as 57 trucks in operation at one time.
In 1977, his son, Jason was born and shortly thereafter, in 1979 his son, Justin, was born.
In 2005, Tom and Justin formed Roof Bolt Transport, Inc. Today Roof Bolt Transport's fleet consists of 20 Volvo trucks and 26 trailers. The trucks are 2016-2018 models all with I-shift automatic transmissions.
Forty-four years later, Tom can still be seen making a run on occasion. Justin and Jason work side by side with Tom in the office. "It's a blessing to know that every day when I go to work, I am going to get to see my children. I am truly blessed," says Tom.
Tom is a veteran and a true patriot. He retired from the Illinois National Guard as a LTC after 26 1/2 years of service and thanks God every day for the men and women that wear or have worn the uniforms that keep this great country free.
